Job summary

A PhD student position is available to focus on the assessment of CO2 quality and pilot-scale CO2 capture as part of a significant project aimed at enhancing carbon capture and storage technologies. The role involves investigating amine carry-over in CO2 produced during capture, addressing safety and material longevity concerns due to corrosive impurities.

Qualifications

  • Background in chemical or process engineering
  • Strong experimental and analytical skills
  • Experience with chemical analysis and pilot experiments is advantageous
  • Data analytical skills and knowledge of thermodynamics are beneficial
  • High motivation, responsibility, flexibility, and collaborative skills
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken

Responsibilities

  • Conduct physical-chemical analyses of solvents and gases
  • Perform corrosion experiments
  • Analyze data from large-scale pilot projects
  • Execute pilot-scale CO2 capture experiments up to TRL7
  • Participate in secondments at partner institutions in the UK and Norway

Education

  • A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent is required

Tools

  • Familiarity with data analysis software and laboratory equipment relevant to chemical engineering
