Job summary

This position offers a scholarship for a PhD focused on algorithmic transparency and accountability in AI systems, addressing their societal impacts. The role involves collaboration with technical and legal experts to ensure fairness in algorithmic products used across various sectors.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field (equivalent to 120 ECTS points).
  • Experience in Python programming.
  • Familiarity with statistics and machine learning.
  • Strong interest in the societal implications of technology.
  • High motivation and innovative mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

  • Design simulations of algorithmic systems.
  • Develop methods for studying real-world systems using bots.
  • Create data-collection tools and analyze data from browsers and smartphones.
  • Collaborate with experts in the EU and US to impact real-world applications.

Skills

  • Experience in reverse engineering, red-teaming, ethical hacking, mobile app programming, deep learning, and familiarity with EU regulations (DSA, DMA, AI Act, GDPR) is advantageous.

Education

  • A two-year master's degree or equivalent is required.

Tools

  • Proficiency in Python and statistical analysis tools is essential.
