Job summary

This position offers two PhD scholarships focused on greenhouse gas quantification and mitigation within the agricultural sector. The projects aim to enhance understanding of GHG reduction technologies, particularly those related to methane emissions from manure storage, funded by the Danish Ministry of Green Transition.

Qualifications

  • Educational background in environmental engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in laboratory or field studies is preferred.
  • Interest in hands-on research involving field measurements.
  • Ability to work independently and plan work in collaboration with supervisors.
  • Proficient communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
  • Valid driver’s license required for field work.
  • Familiarity with organizing and analyzing large datasets using tools like Excel or Python.
  • Must possess a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field measurements using advanced analytical techniques and instrumentation.
  • Collaborate with external partners to ensure representative site monitoring across various agricultural practices in Denmark.
  • Focus on different GHG mitigation technologies, with one project involving numerical modeling of methane oxidation in biofilters.
  • Work within the research group “Waste, Climate and Monitoring” at DTU Sustain, collaborating with researchers and technical staff.

Skills

  • Experience with numerical modeling, particularly using COMSOL, is advantageous.

Education

  • A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent academic level is required.

Tools

  • Analytical instrumentation for field measurements, mobile analytical platforms, Excel, Python.
