Job summary

This position offers two PhD scholarships focused on greenhouse gas (GHG) quantification and mitigation in the agricultural sector. The research aims to enhance understanding of GHG reduction technologies and their effectiveness, particularly in relation to methane emissions from manure storage.

Qualifications

  • Educational background in environmental engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in laboratory or field studies is preferred.
  • Interest in hands-on research involving field measurements.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in English.
  • Valid driver’s license required for fieldwork.
  • Familiarity with data organization and analysis using tools like Excel or Python.
  • A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent is necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field measurements using advanced analytical techniques and instrumentation.
  • Collaborate with external partners to ensure representative site monitoring.
  • Focus on different GHG mitigation technologies through coupled models and simulations.
  • Work alongside researchers and technical staff within the research group.

Skills

  • Proficiency in numerical modeling, with experience in COMSOL being advantageous.
  • Strong analytical skills for handling large datasets.

Education

  • A master's degree in environmental engineering or a related discipline is required.

Tools

  • Experience with analytical instrumentation and mobile platforms for field measurements.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Excel or Python.
