About the role

Job summary

The SDU Center for Energy Informatics is seeking candidates for multiple PhD positions focused on advancing digital technologies for the energy sector's green transition. These positions will last for three years and involve research in two main themes: the development of AI-driven Digital Twin technologies for optimizing heating and cooling in buildings, and the application of data-driven modeling for predictive maintenance and asset management in smart energy networks.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in computer science, software engineering, energy engineering, electrical engineering, building services, or a related field.
  • Strong academic background in data analysis, machine learning, optimization, and system modeling.
  • Familiarity with data-driven modeling approaches relevant to smart grids and HVAC systems.
  • Experience in data handling, including cleaning, transformation, and exploratory analysis.
  • Proficiency in Python or similar programming languages, with exposure to scientific computing or machine learning libraries.
  • Knowledge of AI techniques, with an advantage for experience in multimodal data analysis and large language models.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent research under the supervision of senior researchers.
  • Contribute to high-quality scientific publications.
  • Participate in conferences and collaborate with industrial and public sector partners.
  • Engage in coursework and teaching activities as part of the PhD program.

Education

  • Candidates must hold a relevant master's degree by the time of enrollment.

Tools

  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python and machine learning libraries.
