About the role

Job summary

This position involves a PhD scholarship focused on understanding climate-driven changes in the tidal response of sea ice and icebergs in coastal zones, particularly in Greenland. The research aims to develop a high-resolution tidal model using SWOT technology to predict movements of sea ice and icebergs, which are critical in the context of global sea-level rise.

Qualifications

  • A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent academic level.
  • Knowledge in oceanographic and cryospheric sciences.
  • Experience with remote sensing, preferably satellite altimetry.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a high-resolution tidal model using SWOT data.
  • Predict movements of sea ice and icebergs in coastal zones.
  • Collaborate with researchers and contribute to international partnerships, including with universities in Norway.
  • Engage in fieldwork and travel as required for research purposes.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and research skills in climate science.
  • Proficiency in remote sensing techniques.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an international research environment.

Education

  • A master's degree in a relevant field is required.

Tools

  • SWOT (Surface Water and Ocean Topography) technology for tidal modeling.
  • Remote sensing tools and methodologies.
