About the role

Job summary

This position involves a PhD scholarship focusing on the impact of climate change on tidal responses of sea ice and icebergs in coastal zones, particularly in Greenland. The research will utilize SWOT (surface water and ocean topography) to develop a high-resolution tidal model and predict movements of sea ice and icebergs.

Qualifications

  • A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent academic level.
  • Knowledge in oceanographic and cryospheric sciences.
  • Experience with remote sensing, preferably satellite altimetry.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a high-resolution tidal model using SWOT data.
  • Predict movements of sea ice and icebergs in coastal areas.
  • Collaborate with researchers and contribute to international partnerships, including work with universities such as NTNU in Norway.
  • Participate in the SWOT science working sub-team focused on tides and the cryosphere.
  • Willingness to travel and work in an international environment.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and research skills in relevant scientific fields.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Education

  • Must hold a master's degree or equivalent by the start of the PhD program.

Tools
