Job summary

This position involves a PhD research opportunity focused on enhancing deep-tissue imaging techniques for the early detection of pancreatic cancer using novel fluorescence imaging methods. The role is part of a collaborative international team dedicated to advancing biophotonic imaging technologies.

Qualifications

  • A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent in applied physics, biophotonics, biochemistry, or photonics engineering.
  • Strong background in optics, photonics, and optical imaging.
  • Experience with fluorescence microscopy/spectroscopy and data processing is advantageous.
  • Excellent laboratory skills in relevant areas.
  • Proficient communication skills in English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate the relationship between tissue optical properties and the imaging depth achievable with NIR-II fluorophores.
  • Develop protocols for characterizing the performance of novel NIR-II fluorophores.
  • Create an optimized fluorescence detection system for pancreatic duct signal collection.
  • Design image processing protocols for localizing fluorescence signals deep within tissue, utilizing AI modeling.
  • Collaborate with an international team and co-supervise BSc and MSc students.
  • Publish research findings in journals and present at scientific conferences.
