Job summary

A PhD position is available focused on developing quantitative models for sustainable plant-based protein value chains. The role involves collaboration with researchers from DTU and Nanyang Technological University, including a research stay in Singapore.

Qualifications

  • A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent in chemical, biochemical, or food/process engineering.
  • Strong process understanding and interest in mathematical modelling, data-driven methods, and sustainability assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Review and summarize current literature on plant-based protein processing and value-chain modelling.
  • Create mass and energy balances and kinetic models for processing operations like fractionation and fermentation.
  • Develop models for sensory, functional, and nutritional properties, along with data-driven surrogate models.
  • Integrate modelling strategies with life cycle assessment for scenario analysis.
  • Present findings internally, participate in conferences, and publish scientific articles.

Skills

  • Proficiency in process modelling and simulation.
  • Familiarity with life cycle assessment methodologies.

Education

  • Required: Two-year master's degree in a relevant field.

Tools

  • Experience with modelling software and data analysis tools relevant to process engineering.
