Lead Mechanical Engineer (Denmark)

Job summary

This permanent position involves leading mechanical engineering and commissioning activities on a major data centre project in Milan. The role requires taking full ownership of the mechanical engineering function, ensuring projects are delivered on time, safely, and to budget.

Qualifications

• Extensive senior-level mechanical engineering experience on large, complex projects
• Background in data centres, pharmaceuticals, industrial, or mission-critical environments

Responsibilities

• Oversee all mechanical engineering delivery for the project
• Manage and lead the mechanical project engineering team
• Direct the design management and commissioning processes
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and promote safe work practices
• Handle procurement from a technical perspective, including evaluations and equipment selection
• Maintain quality control throughout design, installation, and commissioning phases
• Coordinate with electrical and civil counterparts for clear system responsibilities
• Manage technical documentation and changes, including RFIs and deviations
• Lead commissioning activities and ensure readiness of systems
• Identify risks and develop mitigation plans
• Support business development through strong relationships with clients and contractors
• Mentor project and graduate engineers to enhance team capability
• Provide structured reporting to senior leadership
