Job summary

This role involves working on critical Linux security technologies to enhance the lifecycle of enterprise Linux environments through kernel patch development and validation. You will collaborate with experienced engineers on significant security and infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in C programming and Linux debugging techniques.
  • Practical experience with Linux kernel development, patching, or backporting.
  • Familiarity with Git, GNU build tools, and standard Linux development utilities.
  • Experience in building Linux kernels or distribution packages.
  • Knowledge of automation and scripting using Python, Go, Shell, or similar technologies.
  • Intermediate or higher English proficiency, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and validate Linux kernel patches to improve security and reliability.
  • Investigate upstream Linux kernel security fixes and related changes.
  • Backport patches to older RPM- and Debian-based distributions.
  • Resolve compatibility issues between upstream kernel versions and enterprise distributions.
  • Validate patched kernels through testing and quality checks.
  • Improve workflows using automation tools and programming languages.
  • Document technical decisions and participate in code reviews.

Skills

  • Strong ownership mindset and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate technical decisions clearly.

Education

  • Experience in Linux systems development is essential.

Tools

  • Familiarity with Docker, QEMU, Jenkins, or continuous integration systems is a plus.
