Job summary

This role involves working as a fullstack engineer to develop and maintain financial tools for small businesses, focusing on both frontend and backend technologies. The position is part of a small, senior squad dedicated to creating impactful accounting solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong expertise in Node.js and TypeScript, with experience in building and maintaining microservices.
• Proficient in React.js, with a history of delivering user-facing frontend features.
• Ability to work autonomously in a small team environment, taking ownership of projects from day one.
• Familiarity with API design, architectural trade-offs, and event-driven tools like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Excellent communication skills for articulating technical decisions to cross-functional teams.
• A passion for continuous learning and curiosity about the fintech domain.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain full stack features for the Expenses and Making Tax Digital products, utilizing React.js for the frontend and Node.js/TypeScript for the backend.
• Lead the integration of Expenses into the Business Account transaction history, involving API refactoring and frontend updates.
• Ensure backend service reliability, managing CI/CD workflows, Kubernetes deployments, and observability tools.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and other teams to produce clean, testable, and maintainable code focused on user experience.
• Engage in code reviews and contribute to architectural discussions to enhance the squad's engineering practices.

Skills

• Proficient in Node.js, TypeScript, and React.js.
• Experience with microservices architecture and API design.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.

Education

• Relevant degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.

Tools

• Familiarity with CI/CD tools, Kubernetes, and observability platforms is advantageous.
