Field Service Engineer (Remote)

Job summary

The Field Service Engineer for the Materials and Structural Analysis Division is responsible for the installation, alignment, and repair of advanced equipment and systems, specifically electron microscopes. This role involves validating the operational quality of systems, advising customers on operation and maintenance, and conducting on-site installations primarily in the electronics research and manufacturing sectors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Electronics, Mechanics, Materials Science, Biology, or related fields.
• Hands-on technical experience with installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating instruments such as SEM, TEM, FIB, or similar systems.
• Experience with ultra-high vacuum and high voltage systems is highly desired.
• Proficient in English; knowledge of Nordic languages is a plus.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site installations of electron microscopes and perform testing to ensure proper functionality.
• Execute scheduled maintenance visits and preventive maintenance tasks.
• Provide technical support to customers and field service personnel.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers and team members.
• Complete and submit field service reports on assigned tools.
• Collaborate with application scientists to address user challenges.
• Mentor and train customers on system maintenance and operation.

Skills

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities with a track record of resolving complex system issues.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics.
• Willingness to travel up to 50%-75% of the time, primarily in the Nordics.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in relevant fields.

Tools

• Experience with electron microscopes and related analytical instruments.
