Field Service Engineer

Job summary

The role involves providing expert technical support for the installation, maintenance, and training of scientific instruments at customer locations. The Field Service Engineer will ensure equipment functionality, customer satisfaction, and effective communication between the customer and the company.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in electrical/electronic engineering, chemistry, physics, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years of experience in diagnosing and repairing analytical or scientific instruments.
• Strong technical skills in analytical instrumentation.
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with clients.
• Proficient in English (minimum upper intermediate level, B2).
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
• Valid driving license required.
• Willingness to travel at least 70% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Install FT-IR, FT-NIR, and Raman systems at customer sites and ensure they meet specifications.
• Perform repairs and maintenance of products on-site.
• Train customers on equipment operation.
• Ensure customer acceptance of installations and repairs.
• Maintain communication with customers to address inquiries and service needs.
• Document all field activities, including trips, sales, and services provided.
• Implement networking of analysis instruments with laboratory information systems.

Skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office and technical data presentation.
• Ability to explain complex technical issues clearly.

Education

• Tertiary level qualification in relevant fields or equivalent experience.

Tools

• Experience with FT-IR spectroscopy, NIR-Raman technology, and microscopy is advantageous.
