Engineering Manager (Remote)

Job summary

This role involves leading a talented engineering team in a fully remote, globally distributed setting. The Engineering Manager will combine technical judgment with leadership to guide engineers in delivering valuable products for users.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in engineering management or equivalent experience in building and leading engineering teams.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals with a technical background in Clojure or Frontend technologies like React and TypeScript.
• Proficient in reading and understanding code and technical design documentation.
• Strong product sensibilities and ability to assess product proposals and design work.
• Proven skills in debugging project execution and adapting plans based on feedback.
• Excellent coaching and mentoring abilities in less structured environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially for asynchronous collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support a team of engineers to deliver high-quality features and improvements.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Success teams to execute the product roadmap.
• Coach engineers and support their career development in a low-structure environment.
• Remove obstacles and improve team processes to enhance iteration speed.
• Diagnose project execution challenges and make necessary adjustments.
• Maintain technical involvement and contribute to decision-making based on implementation realities.
• Review technical designs and code to identify risks and improve outcomes.
• Break down complex initiatives into manageable components.
• Hire and onboard high-caliber individual contributors while fostering a collaborative culture.
