Engineering Manager - Observability (Hybrid, London)

Job summary

The role involves leading a team of engineers focused on enhancing observability metrics and tracing within a large-scale distributed system. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for architecting platforms, facilitating team collaboration, and ensuring quality in design proposals.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of industry experience in software development.
• Proficiency in Observability and Tracing tools (e.g., Otel, Tempo, Sentry).
• Experience with Observability and Metrics solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Thanos).
• Familiarity with building Kubernetes operators using Python, Bash, or Go.
• Experience in managing large-scale Linux environments and cloud operations (AWS & GCP preferred).
• Knowledge of TDD, CI/CD, and Chaos Engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Manage and mentor a growing team of engineers.
• Architect large-scale distributed tracing and metrics platforms.
• Facilitate retrospectives, capacity planning, and team discussions.
• Conduct “lunch and learn” sessions for knowledge sharing.
• Review and approve design proposals from the team.
