Design System Engineer

Job summary

The role involves creating and maintaining a design system that ensures high-quality UI across all products. The engineer will work to make great UI the default output for the team, focusing on consistency, accessibility, and integration with AI tools.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a frontend engineer with proficiency in React, TypeScript, and modern CSS.
• Strong design judgment and the ability to define and encode design standards into a reusable system.
• Experience in building or evolving design systems, component libraries, or similar infrastructures.
• Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2 AA) and automated testing for compliance.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain design standards for typography, spacing, layout, and accessibility.
• Own and evolve the design system, creating components and patterns that are flexible and composable.
• Collaborate with designers and engineers to improve product experiences and solve recurring UX issues.
• Automate quality checks for design consistency and accessibility to ensure high standards are met.
• Document the design system clearly to facilitate easy adoption by teams.

Skills

• Exceptional UI craft with attention to detail in design elements.
• Ability to navigate between design tools (Figma) and production code.
• Strong understanding of complex interfaces and B2B patterns.
• Experience with tools like Storybook and visual regression testing.

Education

• Relevant degree or equivalent experience in design, engineering, or a related field.
