About the role

Job summary

The role involves designing, building, and operating platform services and automation for data products, supporting various teams across a large-scale organization. The engineer will engage in end-to-end feature development and participate in an on-call rotation for the services managed.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in building and operating data platforms or backend services at scale.
  • Proficient in Python and at least one additional programming language.
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform and CI/CD in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with Databricks, Spark, and Delta Lake or similar technologies.
  • Strong fundamentals in software engineering, including testing and debugging.
  • Experience managing services in production, including incident response and SLO tracking.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain platform services, SDKs, and automation for product teams.
  • Implement infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, and automated policy enforcement.
  • Manage production services, including incident response and service health monitoring.
  • Collaborate with product engineers to enhance platform capabilities based on recurring issues.

Skills

  • Experience with policy-as-code tools, secrets management, and IAM in cloud environments is a plus.
  • Knowledge of streaming technologies like Kafka or Event Hubs and event-driven architectures is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with data quality and lineage tools such as Unity Catalog or Great Expectations is advantageous.
  • Exposure to the Microsoft data ecosystem, including Fabric and Power BI, from a platform perspective is a plus.

Education

  • Relevant degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Tools

  • Proficiency in Terraform, CI/CD tools, Databricks, Spark, and Delta Lake.
