Controls Cybersecurity Engineer

Job summary

This role focuses on ensuring cybersecurity and compliance within industrial automation, particularly in food processing technology. The position involves supporting the implementation of the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) requirements while developing and maintaining PLC and HMI software solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.
• Experience with PLC programming and industrial control systems, specifically Allen-Bradley platforms and Studio 5000.
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP and OPC-UA.
• Strong analytical and documentation skills, with the ability to translate technical requirements into engineering specifications.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and interpret CRA requirements applicable to equipment.
• Assess and document technical, software, process, and lifecycle requirements for CRA compliance.
• Perform gap analyses between existing designs and CRA requirements.
• Develop implementation guidelines and engineering best practices for cybersecurity and compliance.
• Define cybersecurity requirements for hardware, software, and industrial networks.
• Participate in risk assessments and contribute to compliance documentation.
• Collaborate with various teams to analyze requirements and develop practical solutions.
• Maintain and improve PLC and HMI software for Allen-Bradley equipment.

Tools

• Experience with FactoryTalk ME/SE or Optix is a plus. Familiarity with cybersecurity standards such as IEC 62443 and knowledge of the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) is also beneficial.
