Backend Engineer (Remote, Nordics Europe)

Job summary

This role involves being one of the first engineers in a cloud security company, focusing on building a real-time policy engine that evaluates compliance against cloud infrastructure changes. You will take ownership of core backend services, ensuring they are fast, correct, and secure.

Qualifications

• Strong backend engineering experience in a compiled, statically typed language (Go, Rust, Java, C++, C#, or similar).
• Proficient in SQL and familiar with relational and columnar data models.
• A product mindset with a focus on user needs and problem-solving.
• Ability to take ownership of problems from design to production.
• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Experience with Terraform or Pulumi and understanding of infrastructure-as-code.
• Familiarity with AI coding tools in development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design and build core backend services in Go for real-time policy evaluation.
• Own a core area of the platform from design to production.
• Develop simulation and enforcement paths to block or auto-remediate non-compliant changes.
• Engage with customers to understand the real-world impact of your work.

Skills

• Strong backend programming skills in Go or similar languages.
• Proficient in SQL and data modeling.
• Experience with cloud operations and infrastructure management.
• Familiarity with AI development tools.
