Backend Engineer (Media, Copenhagen)

Job summary

A Backend Engineer is sought to enhance the Open Intelligence initiative by developing robust, scalable, and automated data infrastructure. This role involves applying software engineering principles to create and maintain systems that support a global media ecosystem, focusing on high-performance data processing and service integration.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Backend Engineering or Software Engineering, particularly with scalable, data-intensive systems.
• Strong proficiency in Python for backend development and data processing.
• Experience in designing, developing, and consuming web services and APIs.
• Hands-on knowledge of Terraform for cloud infrastructure management.
• Familiarity with automation principles, CI/CD pipelines, and version control systems like Git.
• Interest in high-performance compiled languages such as Scala, Rust, or Go is advantageous.
• Strong communication skills for explaining technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Proactive problem-solving mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain scalable data ingestion services and pipelines using Python.
• Develop and integrate with external REST APIs to process various data sources.
• Implement and manage cloud infrastructure as code with Terraform.
• Create and evolve internal web services and APIs for data platform capabilities.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize data access.
• Champion best practices for automation, testing, and observability in the data platform.
• Contribute to data governance and quality frameworks.
• Explore new tools and technologies for system improvement.

Skills

• Proficiency in Python and experience with web services and APIs.
• Knowledge of Terraform and cloud infrastructure management.
• Understanding of automation, CI/CD, and testing methodologies.
• Familiarity with adtech or martech data is a plus.

Education

• Relevant degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
