We are currently seeking to fill a fellowship position with a focus on WFP’s engagement with Nordic and Baltic donors at the WFP Nordic Office, based in Copenhagen, Denmark.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DIVISION
The WFP Nordic Office provides a strategic entry point to the Nordic countries. In 2024, the Nordic governments and private sector contributed USD 482 million to WFP making the Nordics collectively the 5th largest donor to WFP and top donors of flexible funding. Through proactive advocacy, strategic positioning, analysis and engagement, the WFP Nordic Office seeks to create enabling environments to protect and increase funding and partnerships from the Nordics.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strengthen WFP’s communications, advocacy, and visibility with Nordic and Baltic audiences
• Support communication, advocacy, and visibility efforts targeting Nordic audiences.
• Coordinate internal and external newsletters, along with other information-sharing efforts, to ensure key stakeholders are regularly updated on WFP’s work.
• Contribute to communication efforts by creating impactful content for the Nordic Office's social media accounts and maintaining some of these platforms.
• Support the planning and coordination of events to enhance WFP’s engagement with Nordic and Baltic partners, including logistical arrangements, background materials, and follow-up.
Support WFP’s engagement with Nordic and Baltic countries:
• Support partnerships with Nordic and Baltic governments by coordinating, preparing, and facilitating meetings, discussions, and consultations between WFP and the counterparts.
• Identify opportunities for WFP to establish innovative partnerships with Nordic public, political, and private stakeholders, and support outreach activities to these partners.
• Contribute to the planning and preparation of WFP missions to the Nordic region and engagements with key partners.
Conduct regular analyses of the political landscape and government priorities with Nordic and Balticcountries, and offer recommendations on their potential impact on WFP.
•Support with broader Nordic Office initiatives and tasks as needed.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Be a master's student or a graduate in Political Science, International Development, International Business,Communications or other fields related to the mandate of WFP
Excellent written and spoken English is required (proficiency/level C). Working knowledge of another officialUN language (French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian plus Portuguese) is an asset. Working knowledge ofa Nordic language would be an asset.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
TRAINING COMPONENTS
Throughout their assignment WFP Fellows have access to an industry leading learning platform, WeLearn. Depending on opportunities and availability of funds, he/she may participate in WFP workshops or seminars, as appropriate.
LEARNING ELEMENTS
At the end of the assignment, the Fellow should have:
In-depth understanding of the United Nations system and WFP’s mandate and role within the broaderhumanitarian and development efforts.
Practical experience in donor relations and external engagement, including government, private sector, and institutional donors.
Skills in drafting and reviewing official communications, including briefing notes, talking points, andcorrespondence tailored for high-level stakeholders.
Hands-on experience in managing humanitarian messaging across digital platforms, including creating andcurating content for social media in alignment with WFP’s communication strategy and brand guidelines.
Experience supporting high-level political outreach and engagement, including preparing for meetings,events, and missions involving senior UN officials, and government representatives.
Improved capacity to analyze political landscapes and donor environments, and apply this analysis to informstrategic decision-making and stakeholder engagement.
TYPE OF ASSIGNMENT
The selected candidate will receive IT equipment, training material and medical insurance coverage; however, financial compensation is not provided by WFP. This opportunity is particularly well-suited for students or recent graduates seeking practical experience in an international organization. It offers valuable exposure to WFP’s operations and the chance to contribute meaningfully to its mission.
