Then this role may be the next unique opportunity for you.
Meet Your Future Team
You will join our Project Management organization based at the LKR Innovation House in Østbirk (Denmark). The team consists of highly experienced senior project managers who drive complex product development programs across the VELUX Group.
You will be the first dedicated Senior Cost Engineer in the team, shaping this new capability and working closely with colleagues across engineering, procurement, and finance. Our products are windows and related components, giving you the opportunity to work with a rich mix of materials, constructions, and manufacturing technologies.
In this role, you will be the key link between engineering insight and financial transparency—uncovering the true technical cost of components, challenging pricing, and driving cost‑out opportunities across both our current window portfolio and future platforms.
As the first cost specialist in the team, you will shape how we work with technical cost across the entire value chain—introducing new methods, building transparency, and influencing decisions from early concept to industrialization and throughout our products life cycle.
To succeed, you bring, beside strong financial competences, knowledge of materials, manufacturing technologies, and product construction, and you can translate this insight into clear, actionable cost implications that guide decision‑making and drive meaningful improvements across the business.
More specifically your tasks will be to:
What you will bring
You bring strong expertise in cost modelling and should-cost analysis, with the ability to build detailed cost breakdowns at component, system, and platform level. You combine analytical rigor with engineering insight to interpret complex BOMs, identify key cost drivers, benchmark products, and challenge assumptions using data.
You hold a technical degree in engineering or a related field, ideally complemented by commercial or business education. You are professionally proficient in English, both written and spoken.
You have a deep understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and design choices, and how they affect cost, performance, and supply-chain risk. You work effectively with procurement and finance, providing fact-based cost insight and transparent technical cost structures that support sourcing decisions, margin improvement, and portfolio performance.
At the core of your contribution is the ability to influence—embedding a cost-awareness mindset within engineering teams and supporting decision-making across the full product lifecycle.
You bring strong business acumen and leadership presence, engaging senior stakeholders and aligning cross-functional teams, often without formal authority. Experience developing and applying should-cost models is an advantage.
You will stand out for your ability to:
Take ownership and progress work independently, with a proactive and self-driven approach
Constructively challenge assumptions and improve established ways of working
Maintain momentum and resilience when faced with complexity, resistance, or setbacks
Simplify problems, reduce complexity, and deliver clear, measurable outcomes
You are analytical, structured, and curious by nature, combining clarity of thought with openness to new ideas. You build trust through collaboration and credibility, and you see ideas through from concept to implementation.
