Meet Your Future Team

You will join the Buildings of the Future department, specifically the Radical Innovation & New Business Development team. Our mission is to explore and develop breakthrough solutions beyond traditional roof windows, ensuring VELUX remains at the forefront of sustainable, technology-enabled living spaces.

We are a diverse team of 10 people, consisting of technical experts, commercial specialists, and design thinking professionals. The team is split across two locations, Hørsholm and Østbirk, and we work in an agile, high-paced environment where we constantly challenge and support each other to achieve the best outcomes.

What We Offer

In this role, you will play a central role in shaping the technical direction of our digital innovation initiatives. You will work end to end across the innovation funnel, supporting both early exploration and later-stage validation and scaling decisions.

You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external technology partners to support solutions across the full innovation journey, from early prototypes and demos to larger-scale pilots and market tests.

More specifically, your tasks will be to:

  • Act as technical lead across the innovation funnel by defining solution approaches, key technical requirements, and architecture recommendations that balance user needs, scalability, and technical trade-offs.
  • Lead technical feasibility assessments and create high-level estimates covering time, cost, complexity, risks, dependencies, and validation need to support informed investment decisions.
  • Translate product concepts and value propositions into clear technical requirements, assumptions, constraints, and measurable acceptance criteria for validation.
  • Design and drive early-stage experiments, such as prototypes, technical spikes, and proof-of-value demos, to validate feasibility and critical assumptions efficiently.
  • Guide the development of technical solutions from early prototypes through pilots and market tests, ensuring appropriate quality, technical readiness, and clearly defined success metrics.
  • Capture and synthesise learnings from experiments and pilots and translate them into clear recommendations on what to pursue, pivot, or stop.
  • Identify, select, and manage external suppliers and technology partners, defining scopes of work and providing technical oversight to ensure quality, speed, and fit-for-purpose outcomes.

What You Will Bring

You have a strong background in technical leadership and architecture and a proven ability to assess, shape, and guide complex digital solutions across multiple technical domains. You thrive in environments with ambiguity and pace and bring structure, clarity, and sound judgement to decision-making.

Moreover, we expect that you:

  • Hold a master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Digital Innovation, or equivalent experience.
  • Have hands on experience with creation of prototypes from early mock-ups and light coding to handling bigger MVP projects with external vendors.
  • Demonstrate the ability to scope and guide the delivery of digital solutions across multiple technical domains.
  • Understand cloud architectures, data platforms, API ecosystems, and modern software development practices.
  • Possess strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical audiences.
  • Have experience working with external vendors and partners and delivering through mixed internal and external teams.
  • Are fluent in English.
