The Department of Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy, University of Southern Denmark (SDU) in Odense invites applications for a postdoctoral position in the Simonsen group within molecular biophysics of food ingredients. The research is focused on structural and physical aspects of food ingredients and food matrices using high resolution microscopy and image analysis.

We are seeking a highly motivated applicant to join our research team for a project on molecular scale imaging of food molecules in collaboration with an external company partner. 

The ideal candidate has the following competences and skills:

  • A Ph.D. in biophysics 
  • An Msc in physics. 
  • Extensive research experience in soft matter and biophysics. 
  • Analytical and programming skills for data analysis and ai-based analysis. 
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (English) for effective teamwork across disciplines.

Additional valuable skills:   

  • Research expertise in the preparation and characterization of soft materials and gels.
  • Research expertise in Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and AFM-based force spectroscopy. 
  • Research expertise in optical and confocal microscopy. 

Starting date: 1 July 2026. The position is for up to two years.
