Job Description

Be the connector between strategy and execution. As Staff Engineer, you will align teams, shape technical direction, and help create a unified engineering ecosystem that supports innovation across the LEGO Group. 

Ensure our LEGO® bricks and manufacturing processes can keep up with innovation, so that we can continue to provide kids with fun play around the world. 

Core Responsibilities 

In this role, you will be the vital link between product strategy and technical execution, working closely with Lead Engineers and Principal Engineers to ensure scalable and maintainable solutions. You will help coordinate efforts across teams, contributing to a connected, efficient engineering environment. 

Strategy, Alignment & Collaboration 

  • Drive discovery and alignment across multiple domains within a cluster to ensure clear stakeholder communication and shared understanding towards key program activities. 

  • Support Engineering, Design and Product leadership by facilitating technical collaboration and decision-making between multiple product managers and engineering leads. 

  • Ensure alignment of technical direction as set by Principal Engineers and drive consistency in execution across product teams and clusters, fostering a unified approach that supports the broader organisational strategy. 

  • Collaborate effectively with multiple digital domains, pointing the right people in the right direction to solve complex challenges. 

Standards, Culture & Ways of Working 

  • Advocate for engineering standards and processes by standardising and paving the way for consistent execution across teams. 

  • Facilitate the adoption of new engineering practices and cultural initiatives that enhance collaboration, innovation, and delivery effectiveness across a cluster of product teams. 

  • Maintain strong communication and people skills to influence without authority and foster a culture of continuous improvement. 

Technical Excellence & Knowledge Sharing 

  • Develop and share deep technical expertise, including domain knowledge and subject matter expertise. 

  • Produce and maintain technical documentation and storytelling to ensure transparency and knowledge sharing while also coaching and growing lead engineers towards these outcomes. 

  • Build POCs to explore new technologies and validate solutions, enabling informed decision-making and innovation within the teams 

Play your part in our team succeeding 

This part of the Digital Technology organization primarily support the Engineering and Manufacturing areas of the LEGO group with digital solutions. 

The Product Engineering Technology department provides solutions and technology for the engineering areas of the LEGO Group. We support from design to produced elements with areas like Element Design, Mould design, Mould production, Quality and Moulding in the factories. This includes Masterdata, Project portfolio, Materials area, and the Sustainable Materials agenda. 

 

Do you have what it takes? 

  • Proven experience in as a Lead Engineer and/or senior engineering role, ideally bridging multiple teams or domains. 

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to align stakeholders and facilitate cross-team collaboration. 

  • Demonstrated ability to advocate and implement engineering standards and best practices. 

  • Experience in technical leadership without direct authority, influencing outcomes through expertise and interpersonal skills. 

  • Deep understanding of technical strategy, architecture, and domain knowledge in your area of expertise. 

  • Skilled in elevating technical discussions and simplifying complex problems. 

  • A collaborative mindset with a passion for enabling and mentoring others. 

  • Personal drive and ownership to push initiatives forward and ensure follow-through. 

 

Nice to have 

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and modern software development practices. 

  • Familiarity with Domain Driven Design and microservices architecture. 

  • Background in agile methodologies and continuous delivery. 

  • Exposure to infrastructure as code, serverless, or DevOps practices. 

  • Experience working directly with senior IT groups in an advisory role.
