Long-Term Vision & Road mapping: Expert in defining and maintaining a 3–5-year roadmap for automation and controls, focusing on flexibility, sustainability, modularity, and digital integration aligned with corporate growth.
Ideation, preparation of Proof of Concepts towards design of automation application for new manufacturing equipment
Emerging Technology Scouting: Skilled in evaluating and industrializing new technologies like AI-driven inspection, adaptive robotics, and digital twins, from concept to scalable deployment in high-performance packaging.
Architecture-Level Systems Thinking: Proficient in designing modular, scalable automation architectures that enhance format changes, throughput, predictive reliability, and quality in future packaging lines.
Innovation Portfolio & Risk Management: Capable of defining both incremental and breakthrough innovations, balancing technological risk, return on investment, and manufacturability while maintaining operational continuity.
Cross-Disciplinary Leadership: Proven ability to lead multi-functional innovation programs with R&D, suppliers, digital teams, and operations, co-developing next-gen packaging solutions and setting global technical standards.
Collaborative Team Development: Foster collaboration within multi-functional teams, engaging partners and customers during and after new automation equipment ramp-up.
Join us in building innovative automation solutions under the Industry 4.0 umbrella, bringing LEGO bricks to children worldwide. As a key player in our new Virginia factory, you'll drive incremental innovation in the automation of highly automated manufacturing equipment for packing lines. Your role focuses on improving and optimizing new machinery, primarily from a technical software perspective. We seek your expertise in automation and programming, ideally with knowledge from multiple suppliers. Your hands-on experience will be essential to our success as we launch this new facility.
Proven experience in automation, specializing in Allen Bradley and B&R PLC systems, including installation, troubleshooting, development, design, and programming.
Proficient in evaluating various automation brands, with the ability to assess their strengths and weaknesses.
Skilled in using Studio 5000 and B&R Automation Studio software.
Experienced in Ethernet/IP and OPC UA protocols.
Hands-on expertise in functional safety, including safety controllers, electrical diagram design, and troubleshooting.
Proficient in reading and writing equipment design requirements and ability to read and understand electrical drawings.
Great teammate with a deep understanding of multicultural environments.
Capable of finding opportunities and challenges with a well-rounded perspective.
Some experience in or curiousity for machine vision systems and Python for scripting, automation, and general programming tasks would be an advantage.
Willingness to travel 20-50 days per year.
Please note that we do not offer relocation support for this position. Internally within the organization, this role is at a Senior Manager specialist level.
