Job Description

Shape the future of science education through play! As Senior Learning Design Manager at LEGO® Education, you’ll define and design hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences for children turning complex science concepts into creative, engaging and curiosity-driven products used around the world. Partnering across teams and with global experts, you’ll set the benchmark for playful learning quality, influence end to end product innovation, and empower educators to bring impactful, child-centric learning to life!
 

Core Responsibilities

  • Define quality of playful learning experiences for new educational Science products for children in K to grade 8 globally, with a specific focus on hands-on, inquiry-based learning.

  • Create overview and synthesize educational standards as benchmarks for educational products across science standards including NGSS & ISTE standards.

  • Lead design principles for our learning approach and how they are utilized as benchmarks for a quality experience in the early product development phases to support children and educators.

  • Develop lessons and activities throughout product development phases that utilize playful learning principles to address learning objectives across areas of Science from K to Grade 8 and continuously support this into market implementation.

  • Provide coaching and training for colleagues and partners in the science of learning to ensure colleagues are equipped to be a spokesperson for LEGO Educations approach to hands-on learning, inquiry-based pedagogies and children’s curiosity.

  • Work as learning lead in product development teams to guide teams on the learning approach, quality in activities and conversations around child-centric design.

  • Orchestrate the use of external partners and advisors to support knowledge of children's development and learning through play as a resource for the organization.

The Educational Impact team ensures that the LEGO Education products are designed as high-quality playful learning experiences, which equips educators and parents to support children development and learning in the key markets of LEGO Education. You will be part of a team of learning designers who role model a hands-on and creative approach to education transforming this into learning activities that impacts children’s engagement, collaboration, creativity and learning outcomes as part of Elementary Science education globally.
 

Do you have what it takes?

The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of constructionism, hands-on, inquiry-based learning and related learning experiences, which connects education to children’s interests.
You have solid experience in developing products or programes with different disciplines, with a strong focus on science education in markets like USA, Europe or South-East Asia. In addition, you have:

  • Proven track record of working in teams to develop hands-
    on, playful learning materials to address specific learning outcomes across areas of science education.

  • Practical experience from education, developing or supporting educators with hand-on, engaging materials.
    them into engaging learning experiences for children.

  • Strong collaboration skills to lead direction in cross-functional
    teams with external partners, and educational experts.

  • A curious lifelong learner mindset and open to learn about unfamiliar areas.
