Note: This is a Senior Engineer position. No relocation assistance is offered.

Core Responsibilities

In this new position, you will play a key role in ensuring the lifecycle robustness and performance of platform elements with integrated electronic components as part of our newly announced LEGO SMART Play System.  You will, through re-engineering activities, ensure the highest quality and robustness, while enabling the LEGO Group to consistently deliver premium-quality play experiences to millions of children and adults worldwide. More specifically, you will:

  • Independently drive and execute development/re-engineering activities on existing elements containing integrated electronic components. 

  • Apply Six Sigma methodologies, including MSA, SPC and capability analysis, where applicable.

  • Drive structured and data-driven troubleshooting and mitigation activities. 

  • Evaluate trade-offs and prepare recommendations together with key internal stakeholders and external partners. 

  • Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders across the LEGO® organisation, e.g. Novelty Development, Design, Element & Additive Engineering, Moulds, Production, etc. 

  • Drive and execute the introduction and/or continuous improvement of processes, standards and guidelines related to element development.

The Existing Element Development (EED) department ensures the lifecycle management of all existing elements. You will join the EED Re-Engineering team, which is based in Billund, Denmark, and includes 11 highly skilled and dedicated colleagues. The team is responsible for complex concept development and re-engineering of existing elements to deliver robust technical solutions that enhance quality, productivity and sustainability. Moreover, it ensures that these solutions and learnings are effectively implemented into LEGO® standards and guidelines. 

Despite joining the EED Re-Engineering team, your daily work will span across multiple functions in the LEGO organisation, following the nature of the job responsibilities.  

Do you have what it takes?

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of experience with injection moulding, working with part design, technical problem-solving, product safety and standards, materials or similar areas. It would be an advantage, if you have former experience in developing plastic parts with electronics. Furthermore, you have:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree within Mechanical/Industrial/Design Engineering or equivalent.

  • Certified Six Sigma Green Belt and/or equivalent demonstrated work experience with MSA, Process Capability, SPC, DoE, etc.

  • Experience with 3D CAD Design, preferably Siemens NX.  

  • Proven experience in working with new products, where you are leading the direction despite processes not being fully established yet. 

  • High degree of adaptability and flexibility, thriving in fast-paced, ambiguous, evolving environments. 

  • Great collaboration skills with the ability to build strong relationships and networks in- and outside your team. 

  • Curious, holistic, analytical and innovative problem-solving approach to (un)known challenges. 

  • Self-driven, proactive and structured attitude.

  • Proficiency in English – written and verbal.
