Core Responsibilities

As Mould Design Quality Manager Specialist, you will be part of the Mould Design (MD) team delivering mould designs/specifications for both novelty and reorder moulds designed on the external platform (suppliers located all over the world), named External Mould Factory (EMF). You will lead the after-action-review process - analysis and rework of mould designs - following the performance of our EMF suppliers. More specifically, you will be:

  • Overall accountable for following up on the quality of mould designs on the external platform through statistical thinking, data analysis and KPI tracking 

  • Drive improvements and optimization of mould designs executed at our suppliers based on quality management tools 

  • Ensure anchoring of learnings from previous design errors towards future mould designs  

  • Accountable for participating in escalations when requested and deliver specialist support to production, mould qualification and other departments to support the overall quality and productivity agenda 

  • Support and co-ensure that internal and external Mould Designers have the right capabilities and means to deliver constructions according to the standards of the LEGO Group 

  • Define and facilitate cross-functional process mapping and optimization initiatives in the business area with focus on mould design quality and documentation through root cause analysis and structured assessments (PPS, 8D or alike)

  • Support ensuring robust design in the right quality with strong focus on Design For Manufacturing (DFM) and Design For Assembly (DFA) in relation to mould designs 

  • Contribute to the development of the standards for future moulds based on learnings from quality management (QMS, CAPA) to support the LEGO Group strategy  

  • Driver and act as contact person regarding quality for external supplier mould design teams ensuring validation and needed change management 

  • Follow up and report via presentations, dashboards and Microsoft Power BI to the EMF MD Manager and EMF Leadership Team

You will join the Mould Design (MD) team in Billund driving global excellence and ensuring top-tier quality in every mould design. MD creates 200+ mould designs throughout the year and to control this number of specifications and data, we apply the Siemens NX CAD system together with Teamcenter (PLM) and Classifications (standard library).

Key deliverables of the department:

  • Create new mould designs and update existing mould designs to match our mould design platforms and standards at any given time  

  • Ensure the right level of specification of mould designs for the LEGO Group to be able to order a new mould or new spare parts

Do you have what it takes?

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of proven experience with Quality Management and/or Mould/Element Design, Equipment, Tools or equivalent. You bring knowledge about end-to-end construction processes, plastic materials and/or injection moulding. Furthermore, you have:

  • Solid experience with quality data analysis and quality management tools, e.g. QMS, PDCA, PPS/8D, Six Sigma and FMEA

  • Knowledge of general quality standards and systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001 etc.)

  • Proven experience in SAP, Microsoft Power BI or similar data analytical tools. 

  • Solid knowledge of 3D CAD systems, preferably Siemens NX.

  • Ability to analyze team performance/productivity-related problems, come up with solutions and exercise decision-making under pressure

  • Skills in analyzing mould design-related challenges and motivating the team to improve technical solutions

  • A business owner mentality with the ability to perform internal audits among colleagues and suppliers utilizing LEAN principles to drive a continuous improvement culture with a curious, structured and analytical mindset that dares to challenge others

  • Great people, communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills and a global mindset creating strong relations with key partners across cultural awareness, professional expertise and time zone differences

  • Proficient in English both written and verbal
