Job Description
Core Responsibilities
This is a key leadership role within Global Workplace Projects, reporting directly to the VP, Head of GWP, with a dotted line to the Senior Director, Head of Global Health and Safety. This dual reporting structure ensures strong cross-functional alignment, fostering a "One LEGO Team" approach to safety excellence globally across all construction activities.
Strategy & Leadership
Define and drive the global construction safety vision and roadmap and advise senior leadership on safety strategy, risk mitigation, and execution across all projects.
Lead and develop a global team of construction safety specialists, fostering knowledge sharing and a strong safety culture.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed safety principles throughout project lifecycles.
Promote a zero-incident approach across geographies and cultures.
Standards & Governance
Establish and maintain global safety standards, management systems, and risk frameworks.
Define safety criteria for site acquisitions, project tenders, and contractor selection.
Monitor performance and report insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
Ensure compliance with international regulations and industry standards (e.g., ISO 45001, OSHA).
Performance & Continuous Improvement
Develop and track safety indicators to drive progress toward a zero-incident culture.
Lead audits, inspections, and compliance reviews to implement standards.
Stay updated on emerging regulations, technologies, and standard processes to enhance safety.
Facilitate the annual Global Safety Meeting to review achievements, share lessons, and set targets.
Foster a culture of learning from incidents and near-misses to prevent future risks.
Do you have what it takes?
Proven experience in health and safety, including regional or senior leadership role overseeing multi-million-dollar projects.
Proven track record of leading safety in large-scale greenfield and brownfield construction projects across multiple countries and cultural contexts.
Demonstrated success in designing, implementing, and governing global safety programs and frameworks.
Experience in developing and implementing short- and long-term health and safety strategies for the construction industry.
Strong knowledge of construction safety regulations, international standards (e.g., ISO 45001, OSHA), methodologies, and risk management frameworks.
Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and cross-cultural communication skills, with the ability to lead, inspire, and empower a global team of safety professionals.
Ability to operate effectively across geographies, business functions, and matrixed organizational structures.
Able to travel internationally 30-40 days in a year
