Job Description

Do you want to drive excellence in how we manage technology in products from the LEGO Group? 

Bring your electronics experience, business understanding and leadership skills to the table, and help drive portfolio decisions for LEGO Smart Play™ components and other product technologies!

As the Director of the Technology Portfolio Management Office, you will drive decision making in our executive decision board accountable for the portfolio of product technologies in LEGO products – the Tech Board – and develop our processes for technology component development.

Working in partnership with leaders and specialists across design, engineering, manufacturing, quality and procurement, you are responsible for:
 

  • Pipeline management

    • Create pipeline transparency and drive Tech Board portfolio reviews of projects

    • Facilitate end-to-end decision-making in Tech Board on what projects to prioritize

    • Secure strong business case methodology are applied to new concepts, GO / NO-GO decisions are made – and business case assumptions are tracked

  • Resource management

    • Orchestrate resource allocation to tech projects guiding functional leaders on portfolio priorities  

    • Drive trade-off decisions in case of resource shortages

  • Governance and standards

    • Develop effective standards and requirements for tech projects – including the stage-gate Technology Development Process

    • Define governance and decision-making mandates for leaders and teams involved in technology development

  • Performance reporting

    • Establish process and systems for status and issue reporting and escalation

    • Establish metrics to measure efficiency of the portfolio and project process  

  • Continuous improvement

    • Through close dialogue with teams across the business – look for opportunities to drive process and governance improvements, align priorities with the Tech Board, and drive execution of improvement initiatives

Play your part in our team succeeding

You will lead a small team of specialists, and join the Portfolio Management team responsible for planning and

executive decision making of the full LEGO product portfolio – from early conceptualisation to launch – balancing strategic and commercial objectives, capacity constraints, cost drivers and portfolio risks.

The Technology Portfolio Management Office is a team – within the Portfolio

Management team - dedicated to and specialized in technology components, providing governance and process to teams across the value chain involved in technology development.

Do you have what it takes?

  • Extensive experience in process management, governance and documentation management

  • Proven experience working in the field of electronics hardware, firmware, and software development

  • 5+ years of people leadership experience

  • Excellent skills in managing executive stakeholders, decision making and communication

  • Tight-knit collaboration skills - working cross functionally with both functional experts and senior leaders across the business

  • Ability to navigate in a creative innovation environment, and create order out of chaos

  • Self-leading individual who takes initiative, and recognizes and acts on opportunities
