The Prototype Studio within Play Discovery enables the Future of Play by turning imagination into physical prototypes through innovative, cutting-edge technologies. 

The 3D Print Engineer plays a key role by delivering high-quality prototypes and evolving prototyping solutions to meet future needsWe’re on a mission to be first movers in 3D printing technology, constantly exploring new materials, processes, and possibilities that push the boundaries of creativity, engineering, and play. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Prepare and process 3D print jobs, monitoring progress and quality throughout the production cycle including cleaning and post-processing of parts. 

  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to industry standards and safety regulations. 

  • Collaborate with designers, inventors and engineers to investigate possibilities and solutions that improve model and play quality in early development. 

  • Strong interest in identifying and resolving hardware and software issues, as well as conducting preventive maintenance to maintain production stability 

  • Identify opportunities to improve speed, quality, and sustainability in production workflows. across multiple 3D printing platforms (e.g., SLS, SLA, PolyJet). 

  • Demonstrate a proactive, future-focused approach to 3D printing by actively researching, identifying, and implementing new technologies and methods that elevate our work. 

  • Participate in continuous education and training to stay current with the evolving field of 3D printing technology. 

  • Work closely with stakeholders to test new materials and printing techniques, contributing to the advancement of the department's capabilities. 

  • Research, test, and implement new technologies, materials, and methods, keeping the team at the forefront of 3D printing. 

Requirements 

  • Hands-on experience or strong practical interest in 3D printing / additive manufacturing, with the ability to operate, monitor, and post-process prints. 

  • Experience working with one or more 3D printing technologies (e.g. SLS, SLA, PolyJet, or similar). 

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling software (e.g. Siemens NX, AutoCAD, or equivalent). 

  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to deliver under tight timelines. 

  • Takes initiative, spots opportunities, and actively contributes ideas to improve ways of working. 

  • A curious, experimental, and forward-thinking mindset, passionate about exploring new technologies and staying ahead of industry trends while supporting reliable daily operations. 

  • High level of ownership and accountability, able to work both independently and as part of a team. 

  • Commitment to safe working practices, cleanliness, and adherence to workshop and safety standards. 

  • A curious and innovative collaborator who can deliver excellence today while shaping the prototyping solutions of tomorrow 

Nice to have 

  • Experience researching, testing, or implementing new 3D printing technologies, materials, or workflows. 

  • Knowledge of material properties, post-processing techniques, and quality control within additive manufacturing. 

  • Experience working in innovation labs, prototype studios, or early development environments. 

  • Ability to translate technical possibilities into clear recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
