Volunteer: Press Conference Lead (Unpaid)

We are currently looking for a motivated volunteer to support our PR & Communications team, working a flexible number of hours per week until the end of August, increasing to 21–37 hours/week in the lead-up to the event, with full presence required during the event.

Since 2013, TechBBQ has worked to support and strengthen the Nordic ecosystem for entrepreneurship and innovation, based on the distinctive Nordic values of openness, inclusion, trust, and meeting each other at eye level. TechBBQ is Scandinavia's largest startup & innovation summit!

Your Role

At TechBBQ, we bring together founders, partners, and media from around the world—and the stories that come out of those moments matter. We’re looking for a Press Conference Lead who can bring structure, clarity, and momentum to our press moments. Someone who enjoys planning, keeps things moving, and makes sure the right insights reach the right people.
You’ll work closely with our Head of PR & Communications and sit right at the intersection of partners, presenters, and media—helping turn conversations into stories.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Build and manage timelines for press conferences and media briefings

• Create clear, no-nonsense run-of-shows that keep everyone aligned

• Make sure deadlines are met and nothing slips

Keep People on Track

• Be the go-to for presenters involved in press moments

• Communicate clearly, consistently, and on time

• Follow up proactively to keep everyone aligned

Turn Insights into Stories

• Gather key insights, announcements, and angles from partners

• Help shape and distribute these, so they’re useful and relevant for media

• Support the flow of information between partners and attending press

Make It Happen On-Site

• Help run press conferences during the event

• Keep timing tight and execution smooth

• Jump in and solve issues as they arise

Nice to Have (But Not Required):

• Experience with events
