Frontend Developer - Payment Solutions

About the job 

You will be joining the OnPay payment solution team, which is dedicated to growing our presence across Europe. Online payments are becoming more prevalent every day and our mission is to support our growing merchants by remaining at the forefront of product offerings and reliability. This is where you come in.

We're seeking a talented frontend developer with a strong design sensibility to serve as a key contributor to our frontend modernization initiative. You'll be instrumental in establishing comprehensive design systems and rebuilding our core interfaces. This role is about more than just implementing designs; you'll be architecting scalable design systems that ensure consistency, accessibility, and exceptional user experiences across all our products.

As a team, we collaborate on the entire software development lifecycle where security and compliance are fundamental to OnPay’s success and require high attention to detail to ensure that the millions of transactions we process every month remain secure and seamless.  

Your profile  

We are looking for someone who is passionate about crafting exceptional user experiences in the online payments space. There are many different backgrounds that could be successful in this role, so we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet all the requirements below. 

Requirements: 

• Experience building lightweight, modern frontend applications

• Proven track record in establishing and maintaining design systems

• Deep understanding of UX/UI principles and best practices

• Experience translating design concepts into accessible, responsive interfaces

• Great communication skills (our team language is English)

• Structured, proactive mindset with a user-first approach

• Knowledge of web security best practices

• Passionate about technology and staying up to date with design trends

• Version control workflows (we use Git & GitLab)

• Resident in Portugal, Hungary, Slovakia or Czech.

• Ability to travel to Denmark a few times a year

Nice to have:

• Experience with design tools (Figma, Sketch, or similar)

• Payment industry or fintech experience

• E-commerce experience (WooCommerce, Shopify, Magento, etc)

• Component library experience (Storybook, or similar)

• Knowledge of Scrum
