Crewing Business Process Owner (BPO)

We are looking for a Crewing Business Process Owner (BPO) to take end-to-end ownership of Svitzer’s global crewing processes and our crewing system, COAST.

The role is central to how crewing is performed across the business. In an initial phase, you will work closely with product and delivery teams during the redevelopment of COAST, contributing with a strong product and operational mindset. Following this phase, the role transitions into a full Business Process Owner mandate with accountability for process performance, benefit realisation, and continuous improvement.

This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of operations, process, and systems, and who is motivated by delivering tangible business outcomes.

About Svitzer

Svitzer is a leading global towage operator with over 4,000 colleagues and 446 tugboats across 35+ countries. We provide sustainable marine services that make ports and terminals safer, more efficient, and more climate-friendly - a strategic priority reflected in our innovation, like the Svitzer Transverse Tug: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPdhKsJu3fk (1 min 55 sec).

We offer

At Svitzer, you will join an international and inclusive workplace that values ambition, professionalism, and collaboration. Our flat structure and close engagement with senior stakeholders give you the autonomy to shape your role, influence decision‑making, and make a meaningful impact.

You will play a central part in shaping the future of crewing at Svitzer - improving outcomes, enabling value creation, and ensuring we have the right people, in the right place, at the right time. You will be supported by a culture grounded in safety, respect, open dialogue, continuous learning, and sustainable performance, empowering you to deliver meaningful and lasting change.

More about the role

In this role, you will have end‑to‑end ownership of one of Svitzer’s most critical global processes: How we crew our vessels worldwide. You will work across regions and functions to set global standards, strengthen operational consistency, and drive digital and process improvements that directly support our seafarers and frontline operations.

More specifically on what you will do

  • Own the global crewing process end-to-end, with accountability for performance, outcomes, and continuous improvement.
  • Act as Business Process Owner for the COAST crewing system, ensuring strong alignment between process design, system functionality, and operational needs.
  • Partner with regional teams and delivery functions during the redevelopment of COAST, balancing global standards with regional requirements.
  • Translate improvement opportunities into measurable and realised business benefits.
  • Drive adoption, maturity, and consistent execution of crewing processes across regions, with particular focus on the UK and Australia.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to simplify processes, reduce friction, and improve the day-to-day experience for crewing teams.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a pragmatic, delivery-oriented professional with strong operational understanding and a process and system mindset who thrives at the intersection of operations, systems and people. Ideally, you bring an understanding of crewing operations and the realities of managing a global maritime workforce, combined with the ability to translate operational needs into clear, standardised processes.

More specifically, we are looking for

  • Fluent in English.
  • A valid Danish visa and work permit.
  • Experience owning and improving business‑critical processes in complex operational environments.
  • Confidence working across people, processes, and systems.
  • A proven ability to turn improvement initiatives into real business benefits.
  • Strength in operating effectively in dynamic, changing environments.
  • A track record of building trust and strong relationships across organisations.
  • The ability to balance strategic perspective with hands‑on execution.
  • A focus on creating real value for frontline teams and the wider business.
  • Comfort working in a global, matrixed environment.
  • Experience from the maritime industry (an advantage).
  • Experience with process design, optimisation, or operational systems (beneficial).
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
