Would you like to help shape Denmark’s largest infrastructure project? We are seeking an experienced lawyer to join our Legal Department in the Construction Division, supporting some of our largest and most complex infrastructure projects, including the major Fehmarnbelt project.

In this role, you will play a key part in handling complex international construction contracts and disputes relating to the Fehmarnbelt project and future initiatives.

The Position

As a Contract Specialist, you will provide legal guidance to project teams throughout all phases of construction projects, ensuring compliance, mitigating risks, and contributing to robust contractual frameworks. You will be a central member of the legal team assisting on the Femern project, with responsibility for some of the most challenging legal tasks. You will work closely with project management and be directly involved in setting direction and ensuring progress in critical areas.

Your Key Tasks Will Include:

  • Managing large international construction contracts, including FIDIC contracts, with a focus on strategic contract management and risk assessment
  • Strategic and operational claims management, including the preparation and assessment of claims, as well as negotiation with contractors and advisers
  • Preparation for and participation in arbitration proceedings and other forms of international dispute resolution in collaboration with external lawyers and experts
  • Providing proactive legal advice to project management on complex legal issues, often at the intersection of law, engineering and economics
  • Assisting with procurement processes and other significant contractual matters
  • As a senior member of the team, you will also contribute to the exchange of ideas and provide informal guidance to junior colleagues.

Your Profile

You hold a Master of Laws (LL.M./Cand.jur.) and have at least five years of relevant experience in construction law, infrastructure projects, or similar legal fields. You have demonstrated experience with large international infrastructure or construction projects and, preferably, in-depth knowledge of the FIDIC suite of contracts or similar international standard contracts.

You have experience in claims management and handling contractual disputes, and you thrive when advising management in complex commercial situations. Experience with arbitration proceedings or international dispute resolution mechanisms is a clear advantage.

As the working language of the contracts is English, fluency at negotiation level is essential for this position.

You may also recognise the following attributes in yourself:

  • You are resilient and can maintain an overview under pressure, even when the project reaches critical phases
  • You are a strong team player who readily builds bridges between law and business, collaborating with colleagues from diverse professional backgrounds
  • You take a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach to complex legal challenges
  • You can communicate intricate legal matters clearly to both legal and non-legal stakeholders
  • You are conscientious, thorough and possess the perseverance required for large, long-term processes
  • You are goal-oriented, keep track of deadlines and ensure progress in your cases

What Do We Offer?

At S&B, you will experience an organisation in constant development alongside the progress of our projects. You will enjoy a challenging and varied working day with extensive contact throughout the organisation, characterised by an informal atmosphere and engaged employees. You will become part of a strong legal team consisting of five solicitors, one jurist and one MBA jurist – all specialists with extensive experience. Additionally, you will work closely with leading experts from around the world, who contribute their expertise and dedication to the project on a daily basis. We place great emphasis on creating a workplace where you can develop, contribute to meaningful projects, and be part of a community working towards a greener and more connected future.

As an employer, we offer attractive conditions for our employees, including:

  • Health insurance and dental insurance
  • A competitive salary package, commensurate with your experience and skills
  • An excellent pension scheme

The position is based at Vester Søgade 10, 1601 Copenhagen V.

Currently, the position concerns the Femern project, but Sund & Bælt is planning other major infrastructure projects, within which the legal team is also expected to play a vital role in procurement and implementation.
