Senior Scientist, Fungal Physiology & Taxonomy

Job summary

The role involves advancing microbial innovation through expertise in fungal biology, focusing on the intersection of discovery and application. The Senior Scientist will enhance the fungal collection to drive product development and innovation.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Mycology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related field
• Strong background in filamentous fungal taxonomy, physiology, and ecology
• Expertise in classical and molecular fungal identification methods
• Hands-on experience with fungal isolation, cultivation, and characterization
• Proven ability to manage large datasets and extract insights from multi-omics analyses
• Excellent communication skills in English, capable of explaining complex science to diverse audiences

Responsibilities

• Drive strategic expansion of fungal biodiversity for future biosolution needs
• Select and screen fungal diversity for targeted product development projects
• Integrate taxonomy, physiology, and multi-omics data for enhanced biological understanding
• Develop and deploy automated, high-throughput workflows and scalable assay platforms
• Generate and structure high-dimensional datasets to support AI-driven discovery
• Collaborate across R&D and Applied Research to drive end-to-end innovation
• Engage with customers and stakeholders to translate fungal science into application-relevant value
