Senior Backend Engineer (Remote, Global)

Job summary

This role involves joining a team of engineers to develop tools, APIs, and integrations for a global HR platform. The backend is primarily built using Elixir and Phoenix, with a Postgres database, and applications are hosted on AWS.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering fundamentals with experience in shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
• Practical experience in designing automation workflows and improving them iteratively.
• Proficient in Postgres or similar databases and CI/CD practices using tools like GitLab or GitHub.

Responsibilities

• Lead major projects and participate in cross-team initiatives for HR and Payroll products.
• Engage in product discussions, providing feedback and suggesting improvements.
• Maintain a solid understanding of the team’s domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to the shared codebase.
• Debug technical and business issues and mentor other engineers.
• Propose and implement improvements to the platform and workflows.

Skills

• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Next.js, and React/Vue/Angular is a plus.

Education

• Relevant technical degree or equivalent experience in software engineering.
