Senior Backend Engineer (Remote, Global)

Job summary

This role involves joining a diverse team of engineers to develop tools, APIs, and integrations for various products. The backend is primarily built using Elixir and Phoenix, with a focus on creating secure, reliable, and scalable systems.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering fundamentals with experience in shipping production systems.
• Practical experience in designing automation workflows and improving them iteratively.
• Ability to think in systems, define specifications, and ensure quality through verification.
• Experience with Postgres or similar databases.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitLab or GitHub.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of significant projects and participate in cross-team initiatives.
• Engage in product discussions, providing feedback and suggesting improvements.
• Maintain a strong understanding of both product and engineering aspects of the team’s domain.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to the shared codebase.
• Debug and resolve technical and business challenges.
• Mentor junior engineers and guide them in their development.
• Propose and implement improvements to the platform and workflows.
• Design interfaces with performance and accessibility in mind.

Skills

• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Next.js, React, Vue, or Angular is a plus.

Education

• Relevant degree or equivalent experience in software engineering or a related field.

Tools

• Elixir, Phoenix, Postgres, GitLab, AWS, CI/CD tools.
