Senior Backend Engineer (Remote, Global)

Job summary

This role involves joining a team of engineers to develop tools, APIs, and integrations for HR and Payroll products in a fully remote environment. The position emphasizes innovation and automation, with a focus on building secure, reliable, and scalable systems.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering fundamentals with experience in shipping production systems.
• Practical experience in designing automation workflows and improving them iteratively.
• Ability to think in systems, defining specifications and ensuring quality.
• Experience with Postgres or similar databases.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools like GitLab or GitHub.

Responsibilities

• Lead development on major projects and participate in cross-team initiatives.
• Engage in product work, providing feedback and suggesting improvements.
• Maintain a strong understanding of the team’s domain.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to the shared codebase.
• Debug technical and business issues and mentor other engineers.
• Propose and implement improvements to the platform and workflows.

Skills

• Experience with Functional Programming languages (e.g., Elixir, Erlang).
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, and modern front-end frameworks (Next.js, React).

Education

• Relevant technical degree or equivalent experience preferred.
