Want to turn complex humanitarian challenges into clear policy action?

The Danish Red Cross is seeking a Humanitarian Policy Advisor to lead its policy work in two key areas:

  1. You will lead the International Departments health policy engagement, and working closely with the Danish Red Cross health team and policy colleagues across the Red Cross Movement, support efforts to ensure access to care for non-communicable diseases in humanitarian settings as well as mental health and psychosocial support.
  2. Advancing the Danish Red Cross’ policy priorities, with a focus on Europe and Asia, and thematically preparedness.

About you

The ideal candidate has:

  1. Min. five years of relevant policy experience, preferably within the humanitarian field.
  2. Excellent knowledge of the health policy landscape.
  3. While knowledge of the EU is an advantage, astute strategic sense and the ability to independently drive a policy agenda are essential, whether from a humanitarian organisation, the multilateral system, the EU or a ministry.
  4. Relevant academic background, such as international relations, public policy, sociology, public health or another relevant field.
  5. Excellent analytical and drafting skills with the ability to translate complex humanitarian issues into clear policy messages.
  6. Good knowledge of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
  7. Operational experience and strong understanding of the humanitarian sector.
  8. Fluency in English. Knowledge of Danish is an advantage.

We look for someone who has great inter-personal and networking skills, with a proactive, result-oriented, and team-oriented approach.

  1. This is a fixed‑term position scheduled to conclude on December 31 with the possibility of extension and based in Copenhagen.

Salary and work conditions are in accordance with the collective agreement between Red Cross and the AC group, depending on experience and education. We are not leading on salary, however, you will get a meaningful job, and a conducive work environment with possibilities for professional development.
