Business Controller at the Danish Red Cross – Help create financial insight that makes a difference

Are you motivated by creating insight through numbers, analysis, and data – and would you like to use your skills in an organization that helps people in need every day? The Danish Red Cross is now looking for a Business Controller to strengthen cross-organizational financial management, reporting, and data-driven decision support.

A role with broad perspective

As a Business Controller, you will be part of a strong finance team, taking on a cross-functional responsibility for overall financial reporting and management across the Red Cross’ activities. You will become an important sparring partner for management and colleagues at all levels – helping to create transparency and overview so we can make the best decisions in support of our humanitarian mission.

Depending on your experience and interests, your key tasks may include:

  • Developing financial reporting and management information for both the Board and the Executive Management Team
  • Budget follow-up, forecasting, and controlling across the organization – potentially with independent responsibility for a selected business area
  • Preparing financial analyses and decision papers for the Executive Management and the Board
  • Contributing to and facilitating the continuous development of financial processes and system support
  • Strengthening data-driven decision-making and visualization of financial data in Power BI
  • Participating in cross-organizational projects and strategic financial initiatives

Who are you?

We imagine that you have experience from a similar role, working with financial management, reporting, and analysis – perhaps in a larger organization, NGO, or public sector. You are motivated by creating coherence between numbers and real-life impact, and you thrive in a role where you can both dive into details and take a strategic perspective.

In addition, we expect that you:

  • Hold a relevant higher education degree in finance, accounting, or business economics
  • Have strong analytical skills and a structured approach to your work
  • Are curious about data and have experience with – or a desire to work with – Power BI
  • Take initiative and think innovatively when you see opportunities to improve processes and collaboration
  • Can communicate complex financial information in a clear and understandable way
  • Thrive in a dynamic environment with high professional standards and a strong sense of purpose

Meaningful work with dedicated colleagues

You will join a team of 12 skilled and committed colleagues who share responsibility for financial management at the Danish Red Cross. We focus on quality, development, and collaboration – and we value both humor and flexibility in our daily work. You will report to Section Manager Vibeke Borchsenius.

About the Red Cross

The Red Cross is the world’s largest humanitarian organization. For more than 150 years, we have helped people in need – regardless of religion, ethnicity, or political belief.
With us, you will find meaningful work where professionalism, well-being, and flexibility go hand in hand. We believe that strong results are created by people who thrive and have opportunities to grow.

Application and terms

We look forward to hearing from you – and to welcoming you into a community that makes a difference every day. Please send your application and CV no later than 16 November via our recruitment system. First interviews are expected to be held in week 47, and references will be obtained prior to employment. The expected start date is 1 January 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. Salary and employment terms will follow the Red Cross collective agreement with HK and AC. Salary placement depends on your experience and qualifications. Working hours are 37 hours per week including lunch break. You will have access to our canteen, art association, and staff club.

If you have questions about the position, you are welcome to contact Vibeke Borchsenius, +45 2935 6562, vibbo@rodekors.dk.

We look forward to hearing from you!
