We are seeking an experienced R&D Engineer within plasma solutions based in our head office in Hedehusene, Denmark or in our Poznan office in Poland, to join our Group Research & Development organisation.
Ready to help build a better future for generations to come?
In an ever-changing, fast paced world, we owe it to ourselves and our future generations to live life responsibly. At ROCKWOOL, we work relentlessly to enrich modern living through our innovative stone wool solutions.
Join us and make a difference!
Your future team:
You will join our team of engineers and project managers within Group Research & Development. We are a team of passionate, skilled and knowledgeable colleagues who develop and implement the newest technologies for stone wool production. We are proud to be world leaders in our industry, and we work hard to stay in this position.
In this role, you will work mainly in cross-functional teams with fellow specialists and project managers, where you will take the technical lead on selected technology development projects. You will also collaborate closely with colleagues across our factories and with external partners such as suppliers and universities to turn new ideas into safe, robust and scalable solutions.
What you will be doing:
As our experienced R&D Engineer within plasma-based melting solutions, you will support ROCKWOOL’s mission to minimise our climate footprint by developing and piloting complete melting installations in our factories worldwide. You will:
Define new melting concepts based on new ideas and knowledge and mature them from early concepting to finished solution.
Set up and execute test programmes and pilot activities, including planning, documentation and evaluation of results.
Present and review proposed designs with relevant departments to ensure correct standards, safety and manufacturability.
Drive technical dialogues and tender processes with suppliers, including technical evaluation and design optimisation.
Commission and supervise implementation of technologies in factories and ensure robust handover and learnings capture.
Apply data analytics to support technical decisions, performance evaluation and continuous improvements.
Keep a constant eye on global trends and external progress (universities, competitors, suppliers and other players in the decarbonisation world) and translate insights into concrete development opportunities.
You can expect to travel 60–80 days per year, with trips varying from just a couple of days to a few weeks at a time. You will travel primarily in Europe – mostly to meet with colleagues and suppliers and to supervise the implementation of your designs.
What you bring:
You thrive in an environment where there are more questions than answers, and you are motivated by creating new, innovative and competitive solutions that can change the state-of-the-art. To succeed in this role, you bring:
A relevant technical degree, for example in Electrical, Energy or Mechanical Engineering, in Physics or a similar field.
Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience, preferably from electrification tasks such as high power/high current engineering, arc furnaces, induction furnaces or plasma solutions.
A solid understanding of fundamental electrical processes (e.g., transformers, rectifiers, arc processes and related systems).
The ability to adapt electrical/plasma melting concepts to the overall ROCKWOOL process and production environment.
Strong R&D capabilities and a practical mindset, with proven ability to translate research activities into implementable development work.
Experience working with test and pilot production in factory environments and the ability to operate safely and effectively on-site.
Data analytics skills and the ability to use data to support conclusions and development decisions.
Excellent communication skills and fluency in English, written and spoken.
We know that you might not meet all the things on this list, but you might bring skills and experience that we haven’t even included here. If you believe this role could be a match, we encourage you to apply.
What we offer:
A challenging job in a very professional and ambitious company with high-quality, innovative products. In Group Research & Development, we often work in cross-functional and international teams, and when goals have been agreed, teams are granted a high degree of freedom to achieve them. Besides working in development projects, you will also have the freedom to pursue your own ideas.
You can, among other things, look forward to:
An opportunity to help develop the next generation of decarbonised melting processes and maintain ROCKWOOL’s leading position within melting.
A highly innovative environment with skilled colleagues and strong technical communities across R&D and production.
A people-centric work environment where you can grow and develop in different directions depending on your interests and ambitions.
Support for your professional development through relevant training and learning opportunities.
Competitive terms and employee benefits in line with our local policies.
