Your future team:

You will join the Group Sourcing & Procurement (GSP) organization as Category Director – Logistics, reporting to the VP & Chief Procurement Officer (CPO). You will lead a global logistics category team consisting of five direct reports, including Senior Category Managers, Category Managers and selected regional/category specialists within Logistics. The role has global scope and covers logistics activities across 45+ factories in Europe, North America and Asia. You will work closely with colleagues in Purchasing, other Category Teams, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance and regional operating companies (OPCOs). You will also be a member of the GSP Management Team and the Group Operations and Technology Leadership Forum, contributing to cross-functional alignment and governance at Group level.

What you will be doing:

As Category Director – Logistics, you will define and drive the global logistics category strategy for the ROCKWOOL Group, covering transport (road, sea and rail), warehousing, related services and selected 3PL/4PL solutions.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Developing, owning and maintaining the global logistics category strategy in line with Group and GSP priorities for cost, service, risk and sustainability
  • Setting strategic objectives and roadmaps for major logistics subcategories such as inbound, outbound, intercompany and warehousing to ensure that we get the highest level of service to our customers combined with the highest possible cost-efficiency
  • Working with stakeholders in Group and in our Operating Companies to ensure that our vast investments in high-tech warehousing and logistics capabilities deliver the highest possible customer service levels and Return on Invested Capital (ROIC)
  • Leading major global and regional sourcing projects, tenders and negotiations, and managing strategic relationships with logistics providers
  • Delivering measurable value through savings, cost avoidance, service improvements, risk management and sustainability initiatives
  • Establishing and tracking key KPIs such as freight cost per ton, OTIF, claims and CO₂ per ton-kilometer
  • Identifying and managing key risks in the logistics supply base and maintaining contingency plans.
  • Leading, coaching and developing the global logistics category team and ensuring strong cross-functional and regional collaboration

What you bring:

You bring a strong mix of strategic sourcing expertise, logistics market knowledge and leadership experience, with the ability to operate in a complex, global environment. You are analytical, structured and hands-on, and you communicate effectively with senior stakeholders while developing high-performing teams.

  • Master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or similar (or equivalent experience)
  • 10+ years in strategic sourcing/category management, including 5+ years in logistics or transportation
  • Proven experience leading complex tenders, negotiations and supplier relationship programs
  • Proven experience with harvesting benefits from investments in automated site-logistics, warehousing and production management as part of our Factory of the Future programme
  • Experience from an international, multi-site industrial or FMCG environment
  • Strong understanding of logistics markets (road, sea, rail, warehousing, 3PL/4PL) and cost drivers
  • Experience managing and developing teams in a matrix or global setup
  • Strong analytical skills; experience with ERP (e.g. SAP), procurement tools and BI dashboards
  • Familiarity with sustainability in logistics (CO₂ accounting, low-carbon options) is an advantage
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and leadership skills
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are an advantage
