At Rains, we are on an exciting growth journey where finance plays a key strategic role in supporting the business. As we continue to scale internationally, we are strengthening our Finance team and are now looking for a structured and analytical Business Controller to join us at our headquarters in Aarhus, Lisbjerg.

This role is for someone who thrives at the intersection of financial insight and business understanding — and who takes pride in turning data into clear analysis and decision support. You are motivated by creating transparency, identifying deviations, and ensuring that financial reporting forms a strong foundation for strategic decisions.

The Role

As our Business Controller, you will support the Finance department with financial analysis, reporting and business-oriented insights based on existing data and reporting tools. You will work closely with Financial Controlling, contributing to both forward-looking processes such as budget and forecast, and to the monthly close with relevant analysis and explanations. While Controlling focuses primarily on realized figures, your role will have a strong focus on understanding deviations, identifying risks and supporting performance follow-up.

Your Responsibilities

We focus on building a strong financial foundation that supports growth and informed decision-making. In this role, your work will contribute to creating transparency around financial performance and strengthening the link between numbers and business reality.

You will support stable and efficient financial reporting processes, while delivering clear and structured analyses that enable better planning and follow-up across the organization.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and analyzing financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
  • Following up on budget and forecast in close collaboration with Financial Controlling.
  • Contributing to month-, quarter- and year-end closing processes with analysis and deviation explanations.
  • Contributing to the improvement and standardization of financial reporting processes.
  • Acting as the primary Finance stakeholder towards BI and serving as VIS reporting tool responsible.
  • Participating in system testing and optimization initiatives as Finance representative.
  • Analyzing deviations, identifying financial risks and highlighting improvement opportunities.
  • Supporting cash flow and liquidity management activities.

Your Primary Tasks:

  • Prepare structured financial analyses to support monthly reporting and management presentations.
  • Monitor performance against budget and forecast and clearly communicate underlying drivers.
  • Support and challenge assumptions in budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Ensure documentation and consistency in financial follow-up processes.
  • Collaborate closely with Financial Controlling to ensure alignment between actual and forward-looking projections.
  • Act as key contact person from Finance in relation to reporting tools and BI collaboration (without technical BI development responsibility).
  • Drive continuous improvements in reporting structures, processes and system usage.
  • Support ad hoc financial analyses and cross-functional projects when needed.

The position is full-time with your workplace at our headquarters in Lisbjerg, Aarhus N, Denmark. You will report to the Finance Director.

The Ideal Profile

A solid financial foundation combined with strong analytical skills is important in this role, along with a genuine curiosity about how numbers reflect the reality of the business. Working with data comes naturally to you — but just as important is the motivation to explain what it means and put it into perspective.

Structure and attention to detail are part of your way of working, while still maintaining a broader overview. You take ownership of your responsibilities and work independently, while valuing close collaboration with colleagues across Finance and the business.

We imagine that you:

  • Have experience from a similar Business Controller or Financial Controller role.
  • Hold strong competencies within financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Have experience working with ERP systems such as Business Central 365 and reporting tools.
  • Have advanced Excel skills and feel comfortable working with large data sets.
  • Approach tasks in a structured, analytical and solution-oriented manner.
  • Are comfortable communicating financial insights to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Are fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • Experience from an international and growth-oriented company is considered an advantage.
