Quantum Machines (QM) is a global leader in control systems for quantum computing, a field on the verge of exponential growth. Our innovative hardware and software mark a groundbreaking approach in quantum computer control, scaling from individual qubits to expansive arrays of thousands. At the core of QM lies a passionate and ambitious team committed to reshaping the construction and operation of quantum computers. Our work is fueled by a deep understanding of customer needs, driving us to deliver unparalleled solutions in this revolutionary field.

We’re looking for a skilled and self-driven Mechanical Engineer to contribute to the mechanical design of advanced hardware systems. You will collaborate closely on system architecture and concepts, and take ownership of translating agreed designs into robust, manufacturable mechanical solutions. This role suits someone who thrives in an independent, hands-on environment and enjoys solving complex engineering challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical design of assemblies and components across multiple product lines and development projects.
  • Develop mechanical solutions for hardware operating at cryogenic temperatures, supporting quantum processor packaging and related systems.
  • Create and refine prototypes using 3D printing and rapid fabrication methods, validating concepts before scaling to production.
  • Prepare detailed mechanical documentation, drawings, and specifications for manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with internal teams – physics, electronics, engineering, and project management – to ensure cohesive system integration.
  • Own assigned tasks and project segments, driving them forward independently while ensuring alignment with overall project goals.
  • Contribute to design reviews, provide constructive feedback, and help maintain high engineering standards.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • BA or MSc in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks, including configuration management and PLM workflows.
  • Experience in mechanical design within industrial R&D environments.
  • Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacturability principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a structured and detail-oriented approach.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and maintain focus without requiring close supervision.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cryogenic or ultra-high-vacuum hardware.
  • Familiarity with CE and other certification processes.
  • Background in precision assemblies, thermal design, or complex mechanical systems.
