Postdoctoral Researcher in Serious Games and XR Simulation

Job summary

This position involves a 3-year postdoctoral role focused on serious games and immersive simulation for healthcare and robotics, starting from September 1, 2026. The researcher will engage in an interdisciplinary program aimed at designing and evaluating interactive training and decision-support experiences, collaborating with various partners.

Qualifications

• PhD (or near completion) in game research, human-computer interaction, interaction design, XR, serious games, health technology, or related fields.
• Proven ability to design and conduct user studies and analyze human-subject data using quantitative and/or mixed methods.
• Track record of publishing in peer-reviewed venues relevant to the field.
• Practical experience with game engines (Unity/Unreal), XR prototyping, or interactive simulation development.
• Strong communication skills demonstrated through teaching, supervision, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute research on interactive simulations and serious games for healthcare and robotics.
• Plan and conduct human-subject studies, including study design, ethics, recruitment, data collection, and statistical analysis.
• Develop evaluation pipelines for experience, learning outcomes, usability, and human factors.
• Mentor and co-supervise students while fostering collaboration within the project team.

Skills

• Experience in evaluating player experience, engagement, and learning in interactive systems.
• Familiarity with ethical considerations in human-subject research.
• Interest in co-creation with domain experts and translating real-world needs into design requirements.

Education

• A PhD or near completion in a relevant field is required.
