Job summary

This position involves developing next-generation genetic tools aimed at therapies for neurological diseases within a research lab focused on precision medicine. The role includes designing synthetic promoter libraries and screening them in human iPSC-derived neural cell types, utilizing various molecular and cell biology techniques.

Qualifications

  • PhD in biotechnology, biomedical engineering, molecular biology, stem cell biology, or a related field
  • Strong motivation and ambition for research
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken)
  • Background in genetic tool development, including pooled library construction and high-throughput screening
  • Hands-on experience with human iPSC culture and differentiation into neural cells
  • Practical knowledge of cloning techniques and flow cytometry (FACS)
  • Basic bioinformatics skills

Responsibilities

  • Design and generate pooled promoter libraries
  • Culture and differentiate human iPSCs into neural cell types
  • Conduct and analyze high-throughput screens
  • Evaluate promoter activity using FACS, next-generation sequencing (NGS), and barcode sequencing
  • Optimize regulatory sequences
  • Supervise B.Sc./M.Sc. students

Skills

  • Experience in promoter design, cis-regulatory elements, enhancer biology, or transcriptional regulation (desirable)
  • Familiarity with CRISPR-Cas technologies or other genome engineering methods (desirable)

Education

  • A PhD degree (or equivalent) is required.

Tools

  • Molecular cloning, lentivirus production, human iPSC culture and differentiation, high-throughput screening, FACS, next-generation sequencing, and computational analysis.
