Job summary

Three Postdoc positions are available in the Sustainable Microbial Applications group at a leading technical university, focusing on sustainability and biomanufacturing. The initiative aims to develop microbial cell factories and scalable bioprocesses for converting CO₂-derived feedstocks into high-volume chemicals through interdisciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Biotechnology, Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • Experience in engineering bacteria and molecular methods.
  • Interest in sustainable production of biochemicals.
  • Familiarity with nanopore sequencing, metagenomics, and bioinformatics.
  • Knowledge of microbial diversity and functional properties.
  • Strong publication record.
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal).
  • Collaborative, organized, and calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize molecular methods such as PCR, cloning, and DNA/RNA extraction.
  • Conduct genome engineering and develop molecular engineering pipelines.
  • Perform nanopore sequencing and bioinformatics analysis.
  • Engage in protein analyses and flow cytometry.
  • Present research findings at conferences and in publications.
  • Teach and supervise students at various academic levels.

Skills

  • Proficiency in molecular biology techniques.
  • Experience with high-cell density chemostat experiments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education

  • A PhD degree (or equivalent) is required.

Tools

  • Molecular biology tools, bioinformatics software, nanopore sequencing technology.
