Job summary

This position focuses on advancing research in coastal engineering by utilizing innovative remote sensing technologies to predict morphological changes in coastal areas. The scholarship is part of a collaborative research program aimed at developing climate-resilient coastal solutions.

Qualifications

  • A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent academic level.
  • Background in coastal engineering or a related field.
  • Solid understanding of remote sensing and coastal sediment transport processes.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate annual morphological changes at specific coastal sites using high-resolution aerial orthophotos, satellite lidar, and other remote sensing technologies.
  • Develop methodologies for integrating remote sensing data into assessments of shoreline movements and coastal changes.
  • Establish cost-effective techniques for predicting coastal changes to inform protection strategies.
  • Collaborate with national and international partners to validate research findings.

Skills

  • Proficiency in machine learning techniques.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python and Matlab.
  • Creative thinking in engineering, mathematical, and programming contexts.
  • Excellent proficiency in English, with strong presentation and scientific writing skills.

Education

  • A master's degree in a relevant field is required.

Tools

  • High-resolution aerial orthophotos, satellite lidar, airborne drones, waterborne echo-sounding, and programming tools (Python, Matlab).
