Job summary

This position offers a 3-year PhD opportunity focused on the manipulation of flexible objects using industrial robots through demonstration-initialized reinforcement learning. The role is primarily onsite at a university campus in Odense, Denmark, with a flexible starting date agreed upon with the successful candidate.

Qualifications

  • A master's degree in a relevant robotics field or similar area is required. Final semester master's students are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong knowledge in robot control, reinforcement learning, simulation of robot dynamics, and deployment of learning-based solutions.
  • Experience in signal processing, experimental design, and data analysis is preferred.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills.
  • High self-motivation and ability to work independently and in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Strong sense of responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed simulation models for robots, sensors, and components.
  • Create robust manipulation strategies and implement them in real robot systems.
  • Participate in research and teaching activities within the robotics domain.

Skills

  • Proficiency in robot control and reinforcement learning.
  • Experience with simulation and deployment of learning-based solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education

  • A master's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field is required.

Tools
